Year 7 and 8 Topic Week
WARNING! You may find some of the work you are about to see quite upsetting…beautiful beaches, stunning hotels, peaceful countryside retreats!
Year 7 and 8 went on holiday to 法国 speaking countries last week. Have a look at the results of their extensive research which are breathtaking but also quite painful to mark without being able to pack my suitcase!
The purpose of this task was to enable our students to discover parts of the 法国 speaking world they did not know and realise how diverse they are. So don’t forget your passport (maroon or blue…) and enjoy !
Year 7 and 8
Year 7 and Year 8 Spanish pupils investigated festivals from the 西班牙语 speaking world and produced some beautiful and culturally informative project work on this. Some of the highlights are shown here in this week’s work showcase, and some more will be shown next week. Well done, everyone!
The Italian project for both Years 7 and 8 involved researching an Italian festival and producing a PowerPoint presentation about it. They recorded themselves reading out a voiceover in 意大利 with details of what goes on at the festival. The results were of a very high standard and it was very difficult to select a few to showcase here!
Fairy Tale Project
The most famous fairy tales were written down by the 德语 Grimm Brothers! They didn’t write the stories – they only collected and wrote down what had been told for centuries.
The 德语 word for fairy tale is ‘Märchen’.
Our Year 7 and 8 students have been researching ‘the Grimm Brothers’ and have written their own fairy tales in German and presented them as PowerPoints or story boards ready for an audience of young German children. We have some very talented story writers! On our return to school, we will use voice overs to tell the stories and then send them to a 德语 Primary School near our partner school in Erkrath!
From Design and Technology …
Year 7 and 8 Topic Week
This week’s challenge for Year 7 and 8 was organised by the Design and Technology Department, with the theme being Design and Technology Bingo! We wanted to create a challenge that would be fun and exciting, and encompasses the different Design and Technology specialisms.
Please see the grid below to see what the students had to do. We are incredibly proud of the work that the Year 7 and 8 students produced, and we are sure you will agree with us that it looks like they had great fun!
